Our leadership team in Vietnam works closely with our scholarship recipients to ensure they are supported throughout their educational journey. They mentor students, select future scholarship recipients, and facilitate community projects. Many of our leaders are former scholarship recipients!

Vietnam Leadership Initiatives

Mentorship

Our Vietnam Leaders pair every university scholarship recipient with a mentor, who is typically an upperclassman or graduate in the same scholarship program. Mentors provide guidance on career planning and navigating difficult life challenges, in addition to general emotional support. As our students advance in school and their careers, we aim for them to return to SM and pay it forward to the next generation of scholarship recipients.

Buddy Program

We strive to create a strong and inclusive community among our students. We create a network of “buddies” so that our students have a supportive environment to connect with one another. We encourage our students to open their hearts, share their stories, and learn from one another. Through social gatherings and bonding activities, we create opportunities for students to form long-lasting connections and develop a feeling of belonging.

Scholar Selection

We play a leading role in discovering and selecting the next generations of LSMSE recipients. We collaborate with current students to find academically outstanding individuals who are in difficult circumstances. Our commitment to discovering future leaders goes beyond scholastic excellence; we look for people who have a strong sense of purpose and a desire to leave a positive impact on their communities.

Community Projects

We facilitate community projects led by our students so they can gain hands-on leadership experience while giving back to their communities. One such project is “Trọn," which aims to bring the Mid-Autumn Festival to underprivileged communities around Saigon. Another project is Project H.O.P.E, during which our students team up with work campers to build a library and organize STEAM workshops at Sunflower Mission’s annual work camp.
