At my first Sunflower Mission trip, I had a great time working with people I enjoyed being around, and because of that, I was able to make the best out of the workcamp experience. It wouldn’t have been the same if I wasn’t able to be a part of the Sunflower Mission family. Everyone was so welcoming and willing to help me. Painting the rooms was so much more enjoyable to do with others than alone. And although we ran into a few problems here and there, it was nothing major enough to affect my experience here at the workcamp. I’d be more surprised if everything had went perfectly well. If anything, these problems have taught me better how to adapt, improvise, and overcome any obstacles in the future.
Outside of workcamp, there was one time we went out after dinner that really stuck with me. Karaoke. I think that was the only day I really went out at all because I had wanted to sleep early all of the other days. Together with Phoebe, Zak, Kayla, Tyler, Kyra, Zoe, Dalton, Jacqueline, and Sebastian we all walked to Royaltea to get drinks and started the walk to the karaoke place. I’m not sure what app Dalton was using, but it took us through this steep, narrow alley that couldn’t have possibly been an actual street. I’m surprised it showed up in the map at all. At one point a light went out above us and half of us ran away, screaming. Eventually, we got to the karaoke place. It was my first time at karaoke, and I’m so glad I got to experience it here in Vietnam with so many awesome people. No amount of voice cracks or misread lyrics could have taken away how much of an amazing time I had.
I had so much fun at the camp thanks to all of the people I was able to meet and form relationships with. Thanks for letting me be a part of the Sunflower Mission family! ~(˘▾˘~)
