A Mother's Reflection

They had all volunteered for Sunflower Mission previously. My sisters had told me about SM—how great the organization is, how impactful the experience is and how going through the workcamp experience can enable us to learn more about where we come from.  This workcamp is Sara’s and my first time.

Đường Về Quê Hương

Lúc 5:03 sáng xe bắt đầu lăn bánh đưa đoàn về Bến Tre dự Lễ Khánh Thành hai lớp học mới tại Trường Tiểu học An Hiệp của huyện Ba Tri.

Vừa qua cầu Rạch Miễu, khi nhìn thấy những quán hàng bán kẹo dừa ký ức đã ùa về. Xe chạy qua những con đường ngỡ quen nhưng giờ đây cũng rất xa lạ. Nhìn từng hàng dừa, từng cánh đồng xanh không thiếu những phút giây chạnh lòng. Từng chuyến thuyền qua lại tuy không lâu nhưng cũng đủ để ngắm nhìn nước sông đầy phù sa của miền Tây, khi mắt cứ mãi tìm lục bình trôi như một thời tuổi thơ qua phà Rạch Miễu.

At my first Sunflower Mission trip, I had a great time working with people I enjoyed being around, and because of that, I was able to make the best out of the workcamp experience. It wouldn’t have been the same if I wasn’t able to be a part of the Sunflower Mission family. Everyone was so welcoming and willing to help me.

As we all sat on the bus ride that most of us have gotten the hang of, there was a sense of anticipation and excitement in the air. Along with the hundreds of elementary school students that we knew were waiting anxiously for us at the school, this feeling brought by the completion ceremony of the school that each and every member in the bus has laboriously worked towards in the previous week.
